There is one very special night in the whole year that is more wonderful than we can imagine. This surah tells us about Laylat al-Qadr - the Night of Power - the blessed night on which ALLAH began sending down the Quran.

پورے سال میں ایک بہت خاص رات ہوتی ہے جو ہماری سوچ سے بھی زیادہ حسین ہے۔ یہ سورہ ہمیں شبِ قدر کے بارے میں بتاتی ہے - وہ بابرکت رات جس میں اللہ نے قرآن اتارنا شروع کیا۔

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful.

(شروع کرتا ہوں) اللہ کے نام سے جو بڑا مہربان نہایت رحم والا ہے۔

Let's begin with ALLAH's name. HE loves us more than anyone, and HE is the kindest of all. No one can ever be as loving as ALLAH.

آؤ اللہ کا نام لے کر شروع کریں۔ اللہ ہم سے سب سے زیادہ پیار کرتا ہے اور سب سے زیادہ مہربان ہے۔ اُس جتنا پیار کرنے والا کوئی ہو ہی نہیں سکتا۔

Ayah 1–5

إِنَّا أَنزَلْنَاهُ فِي لَيْلَةِ الْقَدْرِ

Indeed We sent it down on the Night of Ordainment.

بےشک ہم نے اس (قرآن) کوشبِ قدر میں نازل کیا۔

Easy ExplanationALLAH began sending down the Holy Quran on a very special night called Laylat al-Qadr - the Night of Power.

آسان مفہوماللہ نے پاک قرآن کو ایک بہت خاص رات میں اتارنا شروع کیا، جسے شبِ قدر یعنی قدر والی رات کہتے ہیں۔

وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا لَيْلَةُ الْقَدْرِ

And what will show you what is the Night of Ordainment?

اور آپ کو کیا معلوم کہ شب قدر کیا ہے؟

لَيْلَةُ الْقَدْرِ خَيْرٌ مِّنْ أَلْفِ شَهْرٍ

The Night of Ordainment is better than a thousand months.

شبِ قدر ہزار مہینوں سے بہتر ہے۔

Easy ExplanationPraying and doing good on this one night is better than doing them for a thousand months - that is more than eighty whole years!

آسان مفہوماِس ایک رات میں عبادت اور نیکی کرنا ہزار مہینوں سے بہتر ہے - یعنی اسّی سال سے بھی زیادہ!

تَنَزَّلُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ وَالرُّوحُ فِيهَا بِإِذْنِ رَبِّهِم مِّن كُلِّ أَمْرٍ

In it the angels and the Spirit descend, by the leave of their Lord, with every command.

اس میں فرشتے اور روح اپنے پروردگار کی اجازت سے (سال بھر کی) ہر بات کا حکم لے کر اترتے ہیں۔

Easy ExplanationOn this night, crowds of angels and the great angel Jibraeel come down to the earth with ALLAH's permission, bringing HIS commands for everything that will happen.

آسان مفہوماِس رات، فرشتوں کے جھنڈ اور عظیم فرشتہ جبرائیل اللہ کی اجازت سے زمین پر اترتے ہیں، اور ہر ہونے والی بات کا حکم اللہ کی طرف سے لے کر آتے ہیں۔

سَلَامٌ هِيَ حَتَّىٰ مَطْلَعِ الْفَجْرِ

It is peaceful until the rising of the dawn.

وہ (رات) سراسر سلامتی ہے طلوعِ صبح تک۔
